Navigation Level 1 (Basic Map and Compass)

Skills taught:

This is a prerequisite for Navigation Level 2

Navigation Level 2 (Routefinding and Field Navigation)

Prerequisite: Navigation Level 1 or equivalent experience

Navigation Level 3 (Electronic Navigation)

Intermediate Rock Climbing

Prerequisite: Basic Climbing or equivalent

This is a prerequisite for Rock Seconding, Anchors, Rescue Level 1
This is required for completion of the Basic Mountaineering certificate

Basic Snow

Technical Snow

Prerequisite: Basic Snow & Basic Climbing or equivalent experience

Rock Self Rescue Level 1

Prerequisite: Intermediate Rock Climbing or equivalent experience

This is a partial prerequisite for Rock Self Rescue Level 2

Rock Seconding

Prerequisite: Intermediate Rock Climbing or equivalent experience

Anchors

Prerequisite: Intermediate Rock Climbing or equivalent experience

Rock Self Rescue Level 2

Prerequisite: Traditional Lead Climbing or equivalent experience

Basic Mountaineering

Prospective Basic Mountaineering students now have two paths from which to choose. Note that you cannot mix the two programs, or any piece of the programs. It is either all Modular or all Traditional.

You can take the traditional path, which we are also calling the Golden Track. With the Golden Track, you commit to the full slate of fixed dates and work with the same students throughout.

Or you can take the Modular approach. With the modular approach, you may choose which classes you wish to take and at which time. There will be multiple offerings of each class throughout the year.

The classes required for completion of the Basic Mountaineering certificate are:

In addition to these classes, you will be required to complete a Snow Couloir climb and a High Peak climb. Prerequisite for these trips is Wilderness Trekking School.
